When our loved ones are in a coma, we make hard choices. Family members often wonder if the person will wake up. Sadly, there is no way of knowing what will happen next.

Fortunately, the current advances in the medical field have helped crack the mystery. Doctors in France are using electricity to test if it would wake up someone who has been in a coma for 15 years.

The doctors delivered some gentle electric pulses into the man’s nerves. The electricity passes through a key nerve that connects the brain and rest of the body.

Following the procedure, the man was able to follow moving objects with his eyes. He can even move his head when asked. Sadly, the doctors think he sustained severe damage to the brain that might affect his ability to talk or walk.

It is a great step in medicine that is giving millions of people hope!
